Blue Crush

Everything I said about the electronic voting problems appeared to have been fixed. Unless the George Allen clan finds some machine in Fairfax County that actually counted negative votes for Allen.

An astounding victory for the Dems tonight. As of now, upwards of 35+ House Seats have been lost by the Repubs and a gain of 6 Senate seats appears likely (Allen won't concede and Burns's race is still going on). A phenomenal election. One I will remember as being the first time I actually celebrated on an election night since turning 18. I only wish that Moderates and the like would've gone our way back in '04. We told you the Repubs were taking us down a bad path. We told you things weren't going to get better without change. Why did you wait 2 years to side with us? I want my 2 years back.

But you know how the saying goes:

"Better late than never."

And oh how sweet the feeling is to think that hardcore Repubs like CI and Econ Boy mocked the Dems for electing Dean to the DNC. Not so dumb, huh fellas? How's that robot Mehlman working out?

Huge win for the Dems tonight. A great day for the Western world. Take a hike. It's time for things to finally change in this country.

If the only thing you took away from this election cycle is that Howard Dean is a good leader, and a “rallier” and “uniter” within the Democrat Party your are even denser that I suspected. This “Blue Crush” as you put it was not the result of brilliant strategy, clever campaigning, or good distribution of funds my Dr. Dean. This was the nation venting. This was the nation not speaking out against the war (please see CT Senate race), this was not the nation speaking out against core conservative values (Please see various failed Gay marriage amendments, failed marijuana legalization initiatives)…this election was the American people saying, “we understand there are serious issues/problems out there and we want results, you have 18 months to show us if you’re better than those before you.” The Democrats will control Congress, they will have no excuses, there will be no one to point the finger at except themselves. We the people expect to see a true democrat agenda and expect results. There is no reason for Democrats to avoid immigration reform, social security reform, better OVERSIGHT of (not strategy for) Iraq. If they do, and if the Democrats do indeed become a “Lame Duck Majority” then there status as majority will be short lived.

And….I’m certainly not a “hardcore Republican”, just as I call myself a Concerned Independent that is indeed what I am. Hardcore Republican translates to evangelical, abortion hating, arab hating, gun totting, anti-gay, blah blah blah. You know who I am, you know my thoughts, you know what I think of the issues. Don’t take my dislike of Howard Dean as an indicator of political allegiances of lack there off…I simply think the man is not good, I mean he is a man whose view on the war is well known, and in fact what triggered his accession in the party, but who will now not say the war is wrong or that we need to leave Iraq now that he’s the head of the democrats. He was even saying the war was necessary Monday and Tuesday…seriously, check it out! Plus, Mickey Mouse probably could’ve led the Democrats to a sweep as DNC chairman…

But I’m glad to see the new power of the Democrats is affecting you at all, glad to see that you (and likely those Dems who actually won yesterday) aren’t going to ride a high horse for the next 18months. Just be sure to remember what’s at stake in 08 and what must and must not be done in order to win the important race.

Winning 30 seats in the House and 6 seats in the Senate is certainly the nation venting. But it's a combination of justifiable venting and clever work done by Howard Dean and the Democratic leadership. Finding the candidates to win 6 Senate seats, as well as backin a crook to maintain his seat in NJ, and running a strong campain to hold off a staunch candidate in MD, is not an easy thing to do. And unseating House Repubs in heavily right winged states like Indy, Kentucky, and Kansas, as well as heavily Republican areas of upstate NY and Connecticut, isn't a cakewalk either.

Yes, the nation was going to vote Blue this time around. History proves that a President's 6th year is often a battle, and given this President's approval rating, things certainly didn't look good for Repubs.

You will certainly see a Democratic agenda. Are you going to get a list of things to do? I doubt it. That's not the Demcratic way. But what the nation is going to get is a group of pragmatic, smart people who deal with the facts, instead of ignore them. Who solve problems, don't create them. Who actually try to improve Healthcare, not make it expensive and ineffective. That listen to Generals, don't replace them. Etc, etc, etc...

I think you'll be impressed.
